Joint Lecture on Deportation Policies in the US, the EU, and Beyond

You are warmly invited to a special lecture on Monday, 13 October, from 13:30–15:00 (online), where two leading experts will share their perspectives on current developments in global migration control and deportation policies.

Speakers
  • Daniel Kanstroom – Professor of Law and leading authority on U.S. migration control. He will discuss the U.S. context and present insights from his forthcoming book Deportation World: Dynamic Sovereignty and the Future of Migrants’ Rights.

  • Arjen Leerkes – Professor of Sociology of Migration, Security and Social Cohesion. He will examine the European Commission’s proposed Return Regulation within the EU Migration Pact and share findings from the Horizon Europe project Finding Agreement in Return (FAiR) on the legitimacy and effectiveness of European return policies.

This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with transatlantic and global perspectives on migration control and deportation. The lecture will be followed by an open discussion with the speakers.
