FAiR toolkits: 3 practical toolkits for policymakers, practitioners and educators

Three practical toolkits for policymakers, practitioners and educators, built on FAiR research on return and reintegration. These toolkits turn that research into practical tools. They share one core idea: returnees are not only recipients of return policy or sources of testimony. Their lived experience is evidence about how return and reintegration systems work, where they fail and what needs to change. And being heard is not the same as having influence.

Choose your toolkit

For policymakers

Helps government and institutional decision-makers move from “including returnees” to meaningful participation and influence. It includes tools to assess who is included and what they can change, to distinguish consultation from influence, and to build feedback and accountability pathways into policy.

For practitioners and civil society

Supports caseworkers, NGOs and service providers with preparedness before and after return, referrals and coordination across actors, and ethical use of returnee voices. It moves from voice to meaningful participation in how needs and success are defined.

For Educators

Brings FAiR research into the classroom through stand-alone modules, a ready-to-use 120-minute seminar, worksheets and assignments. It is built around six questions, from who defines the return problem to who bears responsibility after return.
